There are many ways that you can make a positive difference right now in the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS.

You can volunteer at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, where people from all walks of life give of their time and talents to make every aspect of our life-saving work possible. From staffing the California AIDS Hotline to supporting our fundraising efforts, from licking stamps to stuffing envelopes, volunteers are a critical component of our day-to-day work.

The best way to stop HIV being passed on is to use condoms during vaginal or anal sex, if there is any possibility that either partner could have the virus.

Img02It can take only a single episode of unprotected sex (i.e. not using a condom ) with an infected partner for HIV to be passed on.

Condoms are the only form of contraception that will protect you from HIV. However, HIV is not always passed on the first time, so it's never too late to start practising safer sex.
